Steppping through domesticated forests
I listen to birds call and dogs begging for treats So far from home I feel strange I’m this foreign body on foreign land That’s been taking root in the unfamiliar soil Exploring the local habitats My purpousfull stepps turn into strides Reaching as close as I can get to the midst of it all Planting my feet where the trees grow tightest The twisted branches holding me upright Surounded by friendly critters I’m never fully alone and always in good company Even leaving the forest I know they’re not far- I can hear them snickering in the distance While I’m off to visit the shore Looking out at the ocean I can never get enough of it’s expanse A cold winter breeze is burning in my lungs I can see the blinking lights at the horizon And my breath forming droplets in the air In this moment of calm I do not move, I do not think Staring for just a minute longer, then another and another A voice calls from beyond the waves Beckoning me to come home Then I hear another, from the outskirts of the forest Begging me to stay They’ve been calling for a while now Their echoes fighting inside my mind These big foreign lands have become a home To this little foreign body of mine So, for now, I turn back Leaving the ocean for another time, on another day No matter how soon - LittleBlueDragon |
