Standard Boddhisattva Guan Yin (Kannon)

She rides on the dragon,
and rests on his crown
He opens his cavern,
yet just breathes down

She walks through existence
in silence and peace
A friend to all beings,
her love does not cease

She sits by the ocean
and gathers its spray
She dwells in the open,
where hatred gives way

The willow is bending
so soft in the breeze
To whom is it tending?
To a child, so at ease

The lotus below
in the wordless lake lies
She found it aglow,
awoke, free and wise

Now healing and easing
all longing and fear,
so mighty, so pleasing,
in Now and in Here

It is us ourselves
Each feels, understands
So how you behave,
so blossom the lands

Note: Guan Yin (Chinese) or Kannon (Japanese) is the personalised symbol of compassion in the Buddhist tradition. One maintains a loving attitude towards the world as it is: one does not kill the dragon, one rides it – one does not curse the raging sea, one remains calm, takes a bottle of water and uses it to purify, heal and cool the karmic heat. Her attributes are a vase of water and a willow branch – water is the feminine element and the willow represents flexibility and adaptability in life. Often the dragon is her (subordinate) companion or she sits by the (turbulent) sea: both represent the powerful force and diversity of life: https://youtu.be/nTbzsPCz9Kc
