Chains

What if the bitter taste of memories will never fade?
Could we erase the time in between?
The world we knew now has a darker shade
like knowing what I said this time is really what I mean.
Can we find our way back tonight or will these walls just break
with words you never knew where in your head?
I stumble backwards, hoped you’d meet me there
but what I find myself missing is long thought to be dead.
It’s welcoming me with arms wide open, but I don’t know where to be
Can’t open my cage, I’m trying to fly - but this time it’s hard to feel free
The doors have opened just to shut in front of my eyes
My heart slows down and the bridges we built start to glow
while the wind starts to whistle - I don’t believe in goodbyes.

but what I find missing...
